Global Depository Receipt (GDR) equities
A Global Depository Receipt (GDR) is the global shape of the depository receipt and thus a certificate representing ownership of a share.
A GDR always refers to an underlying share and represents a fraction of that, just one share or a group of shares. By mapping the underlying (an underlying share) in a GDR, the otherwise “foreign” share gets to a local share.
Global Depository Receipts have been developed according to American Depositary Receipts (ADR).
